We started Sydney Magoo's birthday celebration the minute she woke up- by bringing about 30 hot pink, light pink, and white balloons in to her bedroom. I am so grateful this little angel joined our family on January 20th, one year ago.
Scarlett was so sweet, and so excited to give her little sister a Happy Birthday kiss.
Sydney wasn't too sure what to think about the balloons at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea.
After church and naps, Sydney woke up to a fun balloon wall, and lots of family and friends to help her celebrate her special day.
I made Costa Vida's sweet pork and tomatillo dressing for build your own burritos. The only thing Sydney ate was a tortilla and a little rice with dressing.
I loved the simplicity of the theme -pink-. We had pink balloons, pink dishes and silverware, pink lemonade, pink flowers, and we even dyed the water the flowers were in, pink.
Voila.
Mmm dessert. Pink cake and cupcakes.
I love the balloon wall. Love it. I imagined a fun little backdrop for pictures... and this was the perfect thing.
Sydney was so lucky to have both sets of grandparents at her birthday party. Grandma and Grandpa Fuller spent the weekend with us. It was so fun having them here for all the festivities.
Aunt Deb got these to die for pink Pumas for Syd. She just loves them.
Singing and dancing and giggling.
Twelve candles for each month Sydney has been a part of our family.
These next several photos are my favorites. Syd is quite curious and inquisitive. Her expressions say it all.
"Why are you putting fire in my face?"
"I'm really not sure about this, Mom."
"Well, don't take it away now."
"OK, you say blow and I'll do it."
"Why the heck are you guys blowing out my candles?!"
I just love this girl. Everyone told me to let her just go at the cake, but she wasn't interested in the least.
After mashing her cupcake to death, Syd discovered the fun balloons behind her.
And this, for Aunt Ashley, is why we don't wear headbands.
It just doesn't last.
Attempting to have the birthday girl open her gifts... but her eyes were on one thing and one thing only...
Got it.
"My very own remote!"
And there I am. Opening the rest of the gifts. Isn't this dress darling?
The day we have all been waiting for... Sydney's very own chair!
"Pardon me, James. This is MY seat."
"No, no. You don't touch."
"This is so much fun! I love my new chair!"
The Braden Clan.
Sydney's BFF Leigh Anne. Leigh Anne is amazing with babies, and when Rob and I both got callings that would have us busy during the second hour at church, Rob asked what we were going to do with 6 month old Syd. Before even asking her, I said, "Leigh Anne will take care of her". After sacrament meeting Leigh Anne came up to me, and before she offered, I said, "I knew you would take her". And the rest is history. Sydney knows on Sundays, she gets to hang with her best bud.
Syd's boyfriend, James, and his cute parents, Jeff and Kelly.
Only half the Hisermans, because the other half were at home sick.
Granddad and a very tired birthday girl.
Grandma and Granddad. Cheese!
Aunt Pam and Kellen came all the way from Sacramento to celebrate.
And Grandma and Grandpa Fuller, all the way from Kaysville, Utah.
Scarlett had been playing dress up, and demanded she be changed in to her jammies before taking any photos. As we were getting ready, Sydney kept leaning in for a kiss from her big sister. Adorable. They are such good friends.
I am so grateful for, and madly in love with my little family.
Happy, happy birthday, Sydney Magoo. You couldn't be any sweeter. We just love you to pieces.
