September 7: Oahu, Day Five

Wednesday was a day of nothing but sun- at the beach, at the pool- we were literally outside, in our bathing suits all day.  I loved it.

 Kyle found a crab and thought Scarlett would get a kick out of it- she kept saying, "ew, KyKy, yuck!"

 She thought she was so cool for walking out so deep in the ocean.

 "Chatch me, Ashee!"

 She loved going all the way under... but only a few times.

 We ate dinner at the hotel and while we were waiting for a table decided to take some family photos.

 Just the girls (minus Scarlett who was no longer willing to participate).

 I do love her sense of humor.  Even if it gets in the way of our family pictures.

September 6: Oahu, Day Four

Tuesday morning my family headed out for a scuba day, Rob, Scarlett and I stayed behind and did our own thing.  We drove out to Waikiki to hike Diamondhead.  Rob started out carrying Scarlett, and then letting her down for a little while to walk on our own.  Everyone coming back down the mountain kept saying we would never make it to the top with a toddler.  Rob carried her 90% of the way- and it was a really easy hike.  I'm not sure what those people were complaining about!

 Scarlett was clearly not in the mood for photos.

 We lucked out with great weather- it was hot, but we had some cloud coverage so it kept the sun from beating down on us.

 We grabbed lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool.  My family got back around 4 or 5; we met for dinner and then headed on a walk to the ice cream parlor about a mile down the road.

 I think we have a very similar picture from Mexico last year...

 On the walk back to the resort, while I was looking at her and talking to her, Scarlett passed out.  This girl NEVER falls asleep when stuff is going on around her.  She stayed asleep while we walked through the lobby, rode the elevator to our room, changed her diaper and put her in her pajamas.  Rob and I were laughing hysterically.  He said it was like working with a dead body.  She was OUT!

I guess 4 days of vacationing in the sun- with NO naps- will do that to you!



September 5: Oahu, Day Three

Monday was a bit of a dreary day- kind of cloudy, and we had a few periods of rain.  We enjoyed trying to get a tan, and swimming at the beach, nonetheless.

 The DeMilles joined us at our resort for the day (Mele, of the Kamauu clan, married Matt DeMille who is also from Napa) and Scarlett had a ball playing with their girls, Naomi and Gianna.

 What are the odds we would put our girls in the same swim suit, on the same day?

 Around 4pm we headed toward the North Shore for the Polynesian Cultural Center- and made a few stops along the way.  We hit up the locals' favorite shave ice spot, Aokis.

 Then we stopped at Turtle Beach.

 We were lucky enough to see this guy- a 35 year old male.

 We met up with Kathy and Wailana Kamauu and ate at the buffet at PCC, and then wandered around the property before the night show began.

 Scarlett loved running from little village to village, and checking out the waterfalls.

 Everyone told the girls to give "shaka" for the picture and Scarlett's version was hilarious- she held her hand out, and wiggled her pointer finger.  She thought it was awesome.

The night show was amazing and Scarlett LOVED all the music and the fire dancers. We couldn't keep her in her seat- she stood in the aisle dancing almost the entire show. She was one tired cookie by the end of the night.
